Hi MOPS MOMS. I have been talking with MIssy about an email loop and have one set up for us to use. IT is different from the wiki as the information will go directly into whatever email box you set it up to go to. So you do not have to sign into the wiki to read the messages, they come to your box and then you reply right thru email. Great way to get much better response to question, issues or whatever. If you have ever used yahoo email loops before, then you are set up to to, just have to get into the loop by asking or being invited. Anyone who reads this, please email me your email address and then I can sent you an invite to join or you can go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/firstfreemops/ and ask to be invited. You do have to go thru a setup process if you have never used this before, but it is easier to communicate with than the wiki. I hope you all will join. Any question, please email me at r.kirkwood@mchsi.com and I will help you. I am hoping to also tell you more at our next meeting if the steering needs me to!
Once you are in if you put the email address of the group into your email box, then you do not have to go thru the yahoo site to send messages, you can do it thru your email box. the email address is firstfreemops@yahoogroups.com. You cannot send an email until you join the group. Thanks and hope you all join! Karen |

I am glad we have this website and just making a recommendation to whoever is in charge of mops this year though. THis is a good place to get on and see what is happening, but the bad thing is you have to go to a special website to see what is being said and if you do not check it all the time and someone is trying to get together, as I saw the one post say, then everyone can miss it altogether.
I am part of groups now and was in GA as well that set up an email loop thru yahoo. One person sets up the group and sends out emails to all in the group to join and then you get emails and conversation as it happens. I check my email all the time, but not this website. You can email the whole group or you can email an individual too. You can get emails as they come in or set it up to get one big batch of emails once a day. I think that would be an easier way to communicate with each other and you can announce upcoming meetings and reminders to the whole group that way too. If people are not on here, they do not get the message. Anyway, just a recommendation. Karen

Hi. As most of you know I was involved in a MOPS group in GA for 6 years. One of the moms and a really good friend of mine has written a children's book. She served on MOPS steering for many years and now that her kids are too old, she is still helping them out. She is a wonderful person.
Anyway, she did MOPPETs position and one day wrote a book for them. IT was a great book and the pages were a touchy, feely kind of book. It was so good, I told her she needed to have it published, so guess what, she did. The book that is published is not quite as nice as the original as the touchy, feely part could not be reproduced the same. The book is called "God Knows Me" and it is Pslam 139 and has some great pictures that she made, they were the touchy feely part, and it is just a neat book. The publisher is a local one in GA and the website is www.hardnettpublishing.com if you go to the link and scroll down, you will see her book. The author is Sandra L. Williams. I think she is trying to contact MOPS.org to see if they will possibly carry it in the MOPS shop. You can order the book thru the website, but I know she will also send me books at her cost plus a little extra for postage and will even sign the books if you are interested. These are great books for kids, gifts, churches, daycares, etc. Email me if you are interested and I can get the exact price as I forgot what she told me. I am just trying to spread the word for her on her book! I have one of the books she sent my kids as a gift if you want to see one in person too. email thru the wetpaint or to me at r.kirkwood@mchsi.com Thanks so much. Karen Kirkwood

With kids, it's so easy to put them (ie: diaper changing, feeding, clothing, dr. visits, play dates etc etc etc!..you get my point) infront of God. I've only had ONE for 7 months and I've caught myself in the act! I want to encourage all you other moms to investigate with the Holy Spirit into the gifts He has given you! We're only here for a short time and what we do here is crucial! Post what your spiritual gifts are or if you would like to know what they are, let me know if I can help! Mine are Exhortation, Teaching, Pastoring, & Administration! Be encouraged!

Hello, MOPS! Has your summer been as much as a whirlwind as mine? I can't believe it's almost over, but I know some of your kids started school today - mine have a couple of more weeks to go. Such a bittersweet time. It was so nice to see so many of you at the Beth Moore conference this weekend! I hope you were all as blessed and challenged as I was. Oh, to be able to teach like her!! It really is important to make sure we are grounded in God's Word, isn't it? I would encourage each of you to find I some time (even 3 minutes!) each day to seek a word from God. And I would like to invite any of you who might be looking for a Bible study to join to our new fall Bible Study called "Stepping Up" by Beth Moore. There are two sessions to choose from - Wednesday mornings, and Wednesday evenings, and I believe child care is provided both times this year! I look forward to seeing you all in September for our new MOPS year!

Hi, I have been introduced to Vintage Baby, but am wondering if there are other consignment sales around?
We had them all over in Georgia and it was wonderful. Moms groups and some people actually had businesses, would have them, one in spring and one in fall for 1-2 weeks. It was great for selling and buying stuff. You also get more. I would tag my own things and take them in on the day or days that they accepted items and then picked up what did not sell once over. I would get anywhere from 65-85% of the sale price, depending on which group I was selling my stuff with. We had a "Moms of Multiples" group there and they had a really good one. But there were many in the area. I just went to the ones closest to me, but you could make a job of it! Anyway, just wondering if there is anything like that here? Thanks Karen

I can't believe it is already JULY!!! I just wanted to let everyone know that I am a supervising teacher for Iowa homeschool families. (Illinois doesn't require this.) I have some openings for some new families. If you are considering homeschooling, have just moved to this area and are already doing this, or just need a new teacher for some reason I would be happy to talk to you. 309-736-1348 Or if you know of others that homeschool, would you ladies mind passing my name along? Thanks so much!!! Deirdre

Hi, I know I met some of you at MOPS as we attended just the last few meetings. We just moved here from Georgia. I attended MOPS there for about 6 years and served on steering for 3 years there too. It took us a bit to get settled before I could attend a meeting.
Anyway, I am new to area and wanting any information I can get. I homeschool my two older children and know of CHALK home school group. Does anyone know of any other groups or email loops to get into? I am also looking for a piano teacher for the kids if anyone knows someone who teaches. Is there a good swimming pool to take kids to in the area? I have seen the one in Rock Island with all the slides on it, but $7 a piece and you cannot take food or drinks in will add up quick. What other things go on this summer and fall, festivals etc? Remember we are fairly new and not sure of where everything is, so if you can give an address, I can mapquest directions. We live in Coal Valley not far from Niabi zoo. So any help anyone can give us, that would be great. WE moved here due to my husbands job, we have no family or friends here. My kids are 10yrs., 7 yrs. and 6 months. Thanks Karen

I have been curious as to which ones of you are attendees at First Evangelical Free from the MOPS group. Or if you don't attend there, where is your church of choice? And do you help in any of the ministries? I'll start...I am a member at Grace Bible Missionary Church in East Moline. I taught SS there for the last 14 years. Then as of the last 3 years I have been their missions director.
